There used to be a Hotel named the Van Dyke Park on Van Dyke Road north of 13 Mile Road in Warren, Michigan. Many attendeees feel that was their favorite convention Hotel ever. This is despite the legendary slow and breaking elevators, and the distances to walk to get to some of the function space at opposite extremities of the facility. It was the location of the first Penguicon in 2003, and ConFusion was held there several times. The VDP had a wonderful atrium which was excellent for socializing. We didn't find another atrium like that in a [Hotel] of acceptable size until the Holiday Inn Holidome. The VanDykePark closed down and is now a senior living home.
